Tobihachimanguu is a shrine dedicated to Hachiman as its name suggests. The beautiful name "Tobi" may contain the image of the kami's sacred banner fluttering in the wind. In Kitakyushu, an industrial city, the shrine has long served as a spiritual support for local people. While Hachiman is known as the kami of martial victory, the deity also protects industrial development and the bonds of family. The shrine has walked through time with the people who live and work in this land, continuously praying for their safety and prosperity. As a warm, community-rooted shrine, it gathers much faith.
