History

Byakko

I, the white fox, speak of an ancient Zen temple nestled deep in Shiojama's mountains. Known as Kogaku-ji, it serves as a training ground for Soto Zen practice. Enveloped in silence among towering peaks, the sound of monks' meditation reaches even my ears. It is said that the great warlord Takeda Shingen held this temple in high esteem. Here, ancient history and modern faith intertwine as pilgrims still seek the way to enlightenment.
