History
Taga Jinja is an ancient shrine enshrined in Taga-machi, Yahatanishi Ward, Kitakyushu. It enshrines the two deities Izanagi and Izanami, known as gods of longevity and long life, and has long been beloved by local people as "O-Taga-san." It has continued to watch over the history of Kitakyushu, which flourished as an industrial city alongside the development of the Yahata Steel Works.
