Naganuma Soma Jinja is an ancient shrine situated in Naganuma-cho. As the name Soma suggests, it is said to have been established when settlers from the Soma region of Fukushima Prefecture welcomed the deities of their homeland. The shrine served as spiritual support for pioneers who left their distant homeland, and was cherished as a place to pray for success and safety in their new land. It is a shrine that unites the samurai spirit of Soma with the pioneering spirit of Hokkaido, bestowing courage and hope.
