History
Bosso Hachimangu is an esteemed Hachimangu shrine situated in the town of Iizuka. Hachiman is known as a martial deity granting victory in competitions, and simultaneously watches over the development of industry and culture. This shrine has walked alongside Iizuka, which prospered through the coal mines of Chikuho, and has been cherished as a sacred place where the safety and prosperity of working people are prayed for. Even now that the coal mines have closed, it continues to be beloved by many as the guardian deity of the region.
