History

Byakko

Iwashizu Shrine is an ancient shrine listed in the Engishiki Jinmyocho, established no later than the ninth century in what is now Takarazuka, Hyogo Prefecture. The principal deity is Susanoo-no-Mikoto, revered as the god of waka poetry, scholarship, good matches, and good fortune. Within the precincts stand Atago Shrine, dedicated to the fire deity, and Takarazuka Suiten-gu, which enshrines protective deities of safe childbirth and the water trade. One of the oldest shrines in Takarazuka, it has long watched over the lives of local people and continues to receive many worshippers today.
