Takebe Taisha is a venerable shrine as the First Shrine of Ōmi Province, enshrining Yamato Takeru no Mikoto as the principal deity. This heroic god performed many martial deeds during his eastern campaign and is revered as a deity of advancement and good fortune. Minamoto no Yoritomo is said to have prayed here for victory over the Heike clan, and his wishes were realized, earning it the reputation as "the deity of advancement." Located on the banks of the Seta River, this sacred place has long been cherished by many people as an important transportation hub.
