Komamiya Jinja
About
History
Komamiya Jinja is a shrine that sits quietly in the deep mountains of Suki Village in Kobayashi. As one might imagine from the name "Koma" (horse), this shrine has been venerated since ancient times as one with deep connections to horses. In the mountainous regions of Suki, horses were indispensable for agriculture and transportation. This shrine has been revered as a deity protecting the health and safety of horses, as well as the livelihoods of the people who cherish them. Even in modern times, it is said to bestow benefits for traffic safety, and it continues to watch over the safe passage of people in this car-dependent age. The grounds, enveloped in the clear air of the mountain village, are a sacred place where the soul is purified.
