History

Byakko

Kinryuji, bearing the mountain name Kounzan, is a Soto Zen temple in Imakawa, Chuo Ward, Fukuoka City. Its principal image is Shaka Nyorai (Shakyamuni Buddha). While detailed records of its founding are scarce, the temple has upheld the Soto Zen tradition of zazen and work as twin pillars of practice, serving as a spiritual anchor for the local community. Despite being located in central Fukuoka, the grounds maintain a quiet atmosphere where visitors can turn inward away from the bustle of daily life.
