Daizenji Tamadarui Gū is one of the ancient and venerable shrines representing Kurume. It enshrines Tamadarui no Mikoto and has been revered as the Ichinomiya of Chikugo Province since ancient times, gathering deep faith from the people. With a history spanning centuries, it has played an important role as the center of regional politics and culture. In particular, the fire festival known as Oniyō is famous as one of Japan's three great fire festivals, attracting numerous visitors each year. As the guardian deity of Kurume, this historic shrine has continued to watch over the development of commerce and agriculture.
