Washirinji Temple in Nishinomiya, Hyogo Prefecture, is a temple of the Koyasan Shingon sect, bearing the mountain name Rokko-san. According to temple tradition, it was founded in 833 CE as a prayer temple of Emperor Junna by the monk Kukai (Kobo Daishi). The principal object of worship is the Eleven-faced Kannon Bodhisattva. Situated at the foot of the Rokko mountain range, the temple is especially celebrated for its autumn foliage, which draws many visitors each season.
