Senami Haguro Shrine stands in Haguro-cho, Murakami City, Niigata Prefecture. Its principal deity Natsuhime-no-Okami is said to be the child of Hatoyama-no-Mikoto, a grandchild of Susanoo, credited with opening this land. Later, Uka-no-Mitama-no-Mikoto and Tsukiyomi-no-Mikoto were enshrined here from Dewa Sanzan, creating three principal deities venerated as the Haguro Sansha Gongen during the Edo period. Known as a candidate for the Shikinaisha Nishina-mi Shrine of Echigo Province, it held prefectural shrine rank and has been revered by the people of Murakami through the generations.
