Chikurinji is a renowned temple located on Godaisan in Kochi City, known as the 31st temple of the Shikoku Eighty-Eight Temple Pilgrimage. Positioned at the summit of the sacred Godaisan mountain, this temple possesses an ethereal atmosphere surrounded by beautiful bamboo groves as its name suggests. As a temple enshrining Manjushri Bodhisattva as its principal object of worship, it is revered as a Buddha of wisdom and continues to be loved by many pilgrims. Enveloped by the refreshing breezes of the bamboo grove, it is one of the representative sacred sites of Tosa, where people from across the nation visit to pray for academic achievement and the bestowal of wisdom.
