Tomyo Jinja is enshrined in Wakamatsu Ward, Kitakyushu City, Fukuoka Prefecture. It is a rare shrine in Fukuoka Prefecture dedicated to Amenotajikarao-no-kami and Amenokoyane-no-kami as its principal deities. Amenotajikarao is the powerful deity who opened the heavenly rock cave door in Japanese mythology, while Amenokoyane is the deity of sacred words and prayers. Since ancient times, this shrine has been deeply venerated by local residents as the tutelary guardian of the Wakamatsu area. Located near the Kanmon Strait, it has continued to watch over the safety of seafarers and the prosperity of the community.
