History

Byakko

Himemiya Shrine stands along the Himemiya-otoshi River, a tributary of the Oofuru-Tone River, in Miyashiro-machi, Saitama Prefecture. It has long served as the chief guardian shrine of the former Hyakken domain. The enshrined deities are the three Munakata goddesses: Takiribime-no-mikoto, Ichikishimahime-no-mikoto, and Takitsuhime-no-mikoto. The shrine is also regarded as a candidate for the ancient Shikinaisha known as Miyame Shrine in Musashi Province. Formerly ranked as a village shrine, it continues to serve as a place of prayer for the local community.
