History
Yachigashira Jinja is a historic shrine located in a beautiful valley of Hakodate. It is said to have been founded around the late Edo and Meiji periods alongside the development of this area. At the foot of Mt. Hakodate, in the Yachigashira area known as a hot spring resort, it has gathered the faith of local people since ancient times. Surrounded by sea and mountains in a beautiful location, it continues to watch over the development of Hakodate as a port town. It is a reassuring shrine where one can also enjoy the natural beauty of the four seasons.
