History
Aghitsu Jinja is a shrine situated in Agiracho, Kanoya. The place name "Agira" is said to derive from the name of the mother of Tagishimimi no Mikoto, an imperial prince of Emperor Jinmu. This shrine, built on a land of ancient significance continuing from past ages, has been deeply cherished by local people. In its sacred atmosphere reminiscent of the mythological era, this precious shrine warmly receives the various wishes of its visitors.
