Higashikirishima Jinja is enshrined at the foot of Mount Kirishima in Takasaki-cho, Miyakonojo, and serves as the guardian shrine of the eastern side of the sacred peak Kirishima. Mount Kirishima is known as the holy land of the descent of the heavenly grandson, and this shrine is one of the sacred places continuing from the age of mythology.
