History
Shihashira Jinja is a venerable shrine serving as the chief shrine of Matsumoto Castle town, enshrining four deities including Ame no Minaka Nushi no Kami. Affectionately known as "Shintōsan" by local people, it has continued to watch over the development of Matsumoto. Since its founding in Meiji 12, it has been revered as a central presence in wishes for the prosperity of the commercial city of Matsumoto and the happiness of its citizens. Particularly renowned as a shrine where wishes are granted, it is a celebrated shrine of Shinshū visited by many pilgrims.
