History

Byakko

Tokumori Shrine, enshrined in Miyawaki-cho of Tsuyama, has long served as the general guardian shrine of the Tsuyama domain. Founded reportedly in 728 CE, with the main hall completed in 733 CE, it enshrines five deities including Amaterasu Omikami. The main hall is designated an Important Cultural Property of Okayama Prefecture. Elevated to prefectural shrine status during the Meiji era, it continues to be cherished as the general guardian of Tsuyama's townspeople to this day.
