Hososhima Hachiman Jinja is enshrined in the port town of Hososhima, Hyuga, and is a historic Hachiman Jinja that has walked together with the sea. Hachiman is known as the god of military fortune and competitive success, and due to its port-town location, it has been deeply revered as the guardian deity of maritime safety and fishing prosperity. As the tutelary deity of the important Hososhima Port, it has long watched over the safety and prosperity of those who live by the sea, and continues to gather the faith of fishery workers and maritime traders.
