History

Ōnamuchi Jinja is a shrine located in Chikuzen-machi, Asakura District, Fukuoka Prefecture. It enshrines Ōnamuchi no Mikoto, another name for Okuninushi no Mikoto of Izumo. Long revered in the Chikuzen region as a deity of agriculture and matchmaking, the shrine has quietly received the prayers of local people seeking good harvests and auspicious unions. It continues to welcome visitors to this day.
