Kirishima Shinbashira Jinja is enshrined in Hosono, Kobayashi, and built facing the spiritual peaks of the Kirishima mountain range. As its name 'Divine Pillar' suggests, it has been venerated as a sacred pillar connecting heaven and earth. Deeply connected with mountain worship of the Kirishima mountain system, it has long been revered as a place where prayers are offered to the mountain deities. The grounds surrounded by the magnificent natural landscape of Kirishima form a sacred space where one can feel the breath of the gods upon one's skin. For climbers and those who love nature, it is an important place of prayer to give thanks to Kirishima's nature and pray for safety. Worshipping while gazing upon Kirishima's beautiful scenery refreshes and purifies the heart.
