Zenko-ji is a Pure Land Buddhist temple located in Tenmancho, Takayama, and is also affectionately called "Hida Zenko-ji" due to its connection with Shinshū Zenko-ji. With Amitabha Buddha as its principal image, it is rooted in the community as an open temple where all are welcome to worship without distinction. Located near Takayama's historic old town district, it is easily accessible for visitors on sightseeing trips. Though the grounds are modest in size, the tranquil atmosphere allows visitors to calm their minds, and there is a steady stream of worshippers praying for safe travels and the health of their families. True to the teachings that the compassion of Zenko-ji Buddha is open to all people, the temple is enveloped in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
