History

Mihashira Jinja is a shrine enshrined in Yanagawa City with connections to the Tachibana family. This unusual shrine enshrines Tachibana Muneshige, the lord of Yanagawa Domain, his wife Lady Gin-chiyo, and Betoki Dohsetsu, Muneshige's adoptive father. Lord Muneshige was a Sengoku warlord praised as "Unrivaled in the Western Provinces" who, after the Battle of Sekigahara, was dismissed from his position but later made a remarkable return as lord of Yanagawa Domain. Lady Gin-chiyo is renowned as a female castle lord, and the beauty of the couple's bond is passed down through various anecdotes. This shrine is known for its blessings of marital harmony and love, and particularly receives many visits from young people seeking good matches. Nestled in the scenic waterside town of Yanagawa, it continues to be beloved by many.
