History

Byakko

I, the white fox, tell of a temple in Kai where those who copy sutras by hand present their sacred works as offerings. Known as Myoshu-ji, it views the very act of painting Buddha and inscribing scripture as spiritual practice. Separated from worldly distractions, with reverent brush strokes, devotees transcribe the holy words. This time spent in focused practice is the most precious of all spiritual disciplines. Many faithful bring their handwritten scriptures as offerings, and through this act, find their hearts purified.
