Kirishima Higashi Jinja

Kirishima Higashi Jinja is enshrined at the foot of the Kirishima mountain range in Takahara Town and is one of the six Kirishima Gongon shrines, having long gathered faithful devotees as a shrine of high standing. Surrounded by the rich natural environment of the Kirishima mountain system, it has served as a sacred site for mountain worship with many ascetics and worshippers visiting over the centuries. It is particularly known as a shrine where those climbing the Kirishima range always stop to pray for the mountain's safety. Within the grounds wrapped in the clear mountain air, one can deeply feel the divine protection of the gods.
