History

Byakko

Enshrined on the shore of Lake Yamanaka, Yamanaka Suwa Jinja is an ancient shrine that has welcomed the divided spirit of the great Suwa Shrine of Shinano. It honors Takeminakata no Kami and Yasaka Tomoe no Kami, and is cherished as the guardian deity of this beautiful lake. Continuing to watch over Lake Yamanaka, one of the Fuji Five Lakes, it has supported the lives of local people. Wrapped in the blessings of the lake and the spiritually efficacious power of Mount Fuji, the spirit becomes clear and serene at this holy place. A truly divine location where one can also enjoy the natural beauty of each season.
