History

Byakko

Shiratori Jinja is enshrined in Harada, Ebino, and is connected to the legend of Yamato Takeru. According to a beautiful legend, after Yamato Takeru's passing, he was transformed into a white bird and flew away, and this shrine is revered as the place where that white bird descended. Surrounded by beautiful natural scenery with the Kirishima mountain range as its backdrop, the shrine has long been a sacred place for those seeking purification of body and spirit. As a deity embodying both the purity of the white bird and the valor of Yamato Takeru, it attracts many visitors, particularly at times of life transitions and the fulfillment of earnest wishes. This is a sacred place that purifies the soul amidst the clear air of the Ebino highlands.
