History
This is the Tongu (temporary shrine) of Hokkaido Jingu, serving as an 'otabisho' (resting place) located in central Sapporo. Founded in Meiji 11 (1878), it plays an important role as the destination of the sacred palanquin from Hokkaido Jingu during the Sapporo Matsuri each June. Located in the heart of Sapporo near Susukino, it is characterized by allowing many citizens and tourists to pay their respects conveniently. Enshrining a branch spirit of Hokkaido Jingu, it bestows the same blessings. Despite being in the midst of urban bustle, it is a precious sacred space where a serene atmosphere pervades.
