Asahikawa Jinja is a shrine located in Higashi-Asahikawa Minami, Asahikawa. It is an historic shrine that has walked alongside the development of Asahikawa and serves as the protective kami of Asahikawa, Hokkaido's second-largest city. From the Meiji period development era, it has been cherished as spiritual support for people living in this region. While receiving the blessings of the beautiful river that gave its name to Asahikawa, it has continued to pray for regional development and resident happiness. Witnessing Asahikawa's transformation from agriculture to industry and commerce, it remains loved by many citizens, continuing to bestow its unchanged divine virtues today.
