History
Okawakamibirafu Jinja is a shikinaisha (shrine listed in ancient imperial records) located in Kanohoku, Kami City, Kochi. Its old shrine rank was ken-sha (prefectural shrine). The shrine has long been deeply revered by the people of Tosa. The elaborate carvings adorning its shrine buildings are masterworks of skilled craftsmen, and at the time of their construction the shrine was praised as the "Nikko of Tosa." Nestled in a mountainous area surrounded by lush nature, it has welcomed worshippers through the changing seasons and continues to serve as a cherished community shrine, supporting regional bonds through festivals and annual observances.
